The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been under development for five years and is due to open next spring at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

The “Forbidden Journey” roller-coaster, named by author JK Rowling, is set inside Hogwarts Castle will take thrill seekers on a journey through scenes from the Harry Potter films.

Here’s a dozen artist’s impressions of the theme park. They show it will have a full-sized Potter-themed village of Hogsmeade and a Three Broomsticks restaurant.

Other attractions include the Dragon Challenge, a high-speed ride described as only “for the brave” – it is based on the Triwizard Tournament

Another is Flight of the Hippogriff, a coaster based on Rowling’s magical creature with the head, wings and front legs of a giant eagle and body, hind legs and tail of a horse.
