Up Helly Aa 2010 – The Shetland Islands Viking Festival

Up Helly Aa is an annual event held on the last Tuesday in January every year in the Shetland Islands, Scotland.

Up Helly Aa celebrates the influence of the Scandinavian Vikings in the Shetlands and has been tradition since 1870.

Locals spend all year making their costumes and longboats only to burn them before going to one, or more, of the hundreds of all night parties to get blind drunk.
