The Venice Historical Regatta dates back to the 13th century and draws competitors from all around the world to participate in the historical race.

The Regatta takes place on the first Sunday of September and has become Venice’s biggest annual boating event.

The event begins with a ceremonial parade down the Grand Canal with traditionally built historical boats manned by participants in period costume.

Once the traditional parade and race is over the canals of Venice fill with people in boats in a huge celebration.
