Neuschwanstein Castle – The Most Photographed Building In Germany

Neuschwanstein Castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat which became an homage to the composer Richard Wagner.
Ludwig named the castle Neue Hohenschwangau; the name Neuschwanstein was coined after his death.
The 19th-century palace is located on a rugged hill near Hohenschwangau and Füssen in southwest Bavaria and is most photographed building in Germany, although public photography of the interior is not permitted.
