The Ice Hotel at Balea Lac (Balea Lake) in Fagaras Mountains,
about 300 km northwest from Bucharest, capital of Romania.

The hotel has been open for the past five winters and has
an inside temperature of about minus four degrees Celsius with the drinks in the hotel’s bar are served in glass made from ice.

Kirkenes Snow Hotel – Norway

Kirkenes Snow Hotel

The Kirkenes Snow Hotel sits close to the Norwegian-Russian border and had its first season during winter 2006/2007.

Starting in mid December, the hotel offers guests individual rooms called “Snow Suites”. The complex also also comes complete with a reindeer park and a husky farm.

The Ice Palace – Alaska

The Ice Palace

The Ice Palace in Chena Hot Springs, Alaska is the only ice hotel in the United States.

Overnight guests are given a parka, snow pants, and boots before being shown to their rooms and regular hotel rooms.

The Ice Palace is also well known for its display of ice sculptures. The design of the hotel is relatively static, but the ice sculptures change every year.

The Icehotel – Sweden

Icehotel Sweden

The Icehotel is located in the village of Jukkasjärvi, about 17 km from Kiruna, Sweden and was the world’s first ice hotel opening back in 1990.

The hotel features a bar, church, main hall, reception area and rooms and suites for over 100 guests to sit and sleep on blocks of sculpted ice in the form of chairs and beds.

The Icehotel is thought to be the biggest hotel of ice and snow in the world, spanning over 6,000 square metres.
