British Airways this week cut the price of business-class seats by up to 40 per cent in a bid to halt a sharp decline in bookings in its premium cabins.

The move came after the airline’s first and business-class traffic fell by nearly 18 per cent in April. This followed a fall of 13 per cent in March.

Until June 30, travellers can take advantage of savings that include business-class flights to New York from £1,099 (a saving of £998) under the airline’s Club World promotion.

Passengers taking advantage of the offer will be granted access to the BA lounges at Heathrow and New York JFK. Other discounts offered include return business-class flights to Sydney from £2,899.

A complimentary black cab service will also be available to business and first-class travellers flying into Heathrow Terminal 5 and who live within 100 miles of the airport.
