Website Of The Week: Historypin

Historypin is a digital time machine that provides an innovative way for the world to see and share history. This cool site encourages people to dig out, upload and pin their own old photos on to images of the same street or place as captured by Google.
This web app has a very slick interface which enables you to layer old images onto modern Street View scenes, giving a series of peaks into the past. The users can browse the photos by location and time period to take a historical tour of cities. Each photo can be accompanied by the story behind it.
The project is being run by the group We Are What We Do, in partnership with Google. The site aims to become the World’s largest user-generated archive of historical images and stories.
Visit Historypin now and pin your history to the world.
