Tony Hawk’s Ride

Tony Hawk games used to be the pinnacle of video game skateboarding, but when EA’s Skate came along with its “Flick-it” control scheme Tony took a bit of a nose dive.
Activision and Tony Hawk have been working hard to get back their crown, and they may just have done it with Tony Hawk Ride, which will feature an actual motion sensing skateboard (sans wheels) apparently skateboarders will be able to get on the board and play straight out of the box as the games control system mimics real life boarding and allows for a whole range of realism settings. Mr Hawk is a dab hand at the game, and sees the new controller becoming the standard for other games such as snowboarding, exercise and surfing.
The Ride board doesn’t feature wheels, but has some pretty advanced motion sensing controls allowing you to do the basics like manuals and steering all the way up to grabs and tricks which are performed by holding onto the board in certain places which infrared sensors pick up, pushing is picked up when you run your foot down the side of the board, at present we are not too sure how flip tricks, ollies and the like are going to be done, but we expect some elaborate control scheme will be added to the game to allow for these functions.
Just don’t try to do a grind down the side of your glass coffee table!
