Sony Unveil PlayStation Move

The much anticipated motion controller for the PlayStation 3 has been unveiled by Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, on the eve of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
The Move is a wireless wand-like device that uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track players’ body movements. The controller has its own light-emitting orb at the top that is recognised by the camera.
Sony are looking to challenge the popular Nintendo Wii with President Shuhei Yoshida claiming, ‘Nothing has ever been this precise’.
It is lighter than the Wii remote, which will reduce arm fatigue and comes with the boringly named ‘sub-controller’ that acts like the Wii nunchuck.

“Nintendo has done a great job in removing the barriers between people and games,” Sony’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Peter Dille, told the audience at GDC. Now, clearly, Sony is keen to move in.
Here’s a video showcasing some of the PlayStation Move’s capabilities.
