TomTom XL IQ Routes

TomTom’s best-selling XL satnav now comes with some of the route-planning, traffic-busting technology previously found on more expensive models.

Among the new features are ‘local knowledge’, which suggests shortcuts and faster routes that would only normally be known to locals, and advanced lane guidance.

The TomTom calculates journey times based on time of day and day of the week, and takes into account varying road speeds. It comes with a free trial of TomTom’s safety alert and fuel price software.

Maps: Choose from UK and Ireland, or Europe, covering 42 countries.
