Nokia N97

Nokia N97

Apple’s iPhone has a lot to answer for. Mobile phones with touch-screens are all the rage, although few manage to be as easy to use and responsive as the iPhone.

Nokia’s new N97, however, is going to run Apple’s handset mighty close. It’s got a huge touch-screen display and a slide-out Qwerty keyboard for those who can’t abide the thought of typing text messages on virtual buttons.

It’s got built-in sat-nav technology, so you can use it as a map, or to get localised restaurant reviews and cinema times. The N97 is also a formidable entertainment device, with a widescreen that’s perfect for watching movies on, and up to 48GB of storage, which is enough for thousands of songs.

Add to that the N97’s five-megapixel camera and camcorder, high speed internet access, and downloadable applications, software, games and music from Nokia’s new marketplace, and the N97 looks formidable.
