Dunhill Magic Mova Globe

Having a globe in your study was de rigueur in the 1970s and 1980s (particularly if it could be flipped open to reveal a drinks cabinet).
Dunhill is hoping to revive the trend, albeit with a 21st-century twist, with this Mova Globe.
Perched on clear legs, it looks as though it is floating, and the intricate map, inscribed in silver, gives it a very expensive feel. But its piece de resistance is the patented technology that allows the globe to rotate without manipulation, batteries or electricity.
Instead, it uses magnetic fields and solar cells – powered by your indoor lighting – to keep the world in motion.
Price: £495 (dunhill.com).
