iPhone 3G S Revealed

Apple has finally released their new version of the iPhone. It’s called the 3G S and its gaining a lot of media coverage. But what new features does the phone bring to the market? We take a look at the key reasons you might want to start saving right now:

New Camera and Video Abilities – The Camera has been upgraded to 3.0 and can now finally record video, which is great news. You can also touch the screen to focus the camera, which we think is a pretty cool addition…

Voice Control – It’s been used on phones before, and it’s a little gimmicky, so unless Apple have an ace up their sleeve we’re not likely to be impressed by the ability to call someone by saying their name.

Cut and Paste – This one is self explanatory and one we really think should have been included a long time ago. At least it’s here now…

Internet Tethering – You can now use your iPhone as a mobile broadband dongle, connecting it up to your PC to give you online access.

Accessibility – This will big a one for annoying who has long been frustrated by the lack of accessibility for the visually and hearing impaired. The iPhone has finally been brought into line with OS X, offering a variety of accessibility features such as a screen reader and zoom function.

In conclusion, there’s a fair amount of new features and a decent speed upgrade, with the phone now touting a 600 MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM, compared to the iPhone 3G which uses a 412 MHz Chip and only half the amount of RAM.

However, the features might not be enough for some people to warrant buying a brand new handset, and as ever with Apple, price is pretty steep if you want to buy the phone outright. Still, it’s a healthy set of new features even if it’s nothing as ground breaking as the original.
