Google Set To Revamp Buzz

Google Inc. said it would revamp the setup process for its new social-networking service Buzz, apologizing to users for raising concerns about the privacy of the product.
In a blog post Saturday, Google product manager Todd Jackson said Buzz would no longer automatically subscribe users to follow the postings of their close Gmail contacts, a move that had spooked many users into believing Buzz was publicizing their private relationships. Instead, after reviewing users’ Gmail contacts, it would only suggest people that users should follow but leave whether to do so up to them.
“We quickly realized that we didn’t get everything quite right,” Mr. Jackson wrote. “We’re very sorry for the concern we’ve caused and have been working hard ever since to improve things based on your feedback. We’ll continue to do so.”
