Here’s a few images of Boeing’s newest version of its 747 jumbo jet as it took to the skies for the first time earlier this week.

Boeing claims the high-capacity 747-8 Freighter will give cargo operators lower operating costs and the best economics of any freighter airplane while providing enhanced environmental performance.

It provides customers with 16 percent more revenue cargo volume compared with the 747-400 freighter.

The first 747-8 Freighter is destined for Cargolux, a Luxembourg-based cargo airline, and it’s maiden flight at Paine Field Airport in Everett, Washington state was broadcast live across the internet in a Boeing webcast.

A commercial passenger version, the 747-8 Intercontinental, is currently under development.
