Quarterback Jay Cutler Asks For Trade

Quarterback Jay Cutler has asked the Denver Broncos for a trade after failing to resolve his differences with new head coach Josh McDaniels.

Cutler, the Broncos’ first-round draft pick out of Vanderbilt in 2006, enjoyed a breakout season last year to earn his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

But the cannon-armed 25-year-old was angered when McDaniels, who was brought in to replace Mike Shanahan as head coach in January, began his reign by requesting the team make a trade for Matt Cassel from the New England Patriots – his former employers.

The pair met with general manager Brian Xanders on Saturday night to try to settle the matter but no progress was made and Cutler has now formally asked to leave.
