UCL: Real Madrid Out, Man Utd Progress

Real Madrid 1-1 Lyon

Real Madrid were eliminated at the first knockout round for the 6th season running, this time at the hands of Lyon. Lyon took a 1-0 lead to the Bernabeu but the tie was evened up 6 minutes into the game after Ronaldo finished from a tight angle. Soon after Gonzalo Higuain went round Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris but ended up hitting the post. Lyon were the better team in the second half as Lisandro forced a good save from Iker Casillas from 25 yards. The goal came when Pjanic picked up a pass from Lisandro inside the area before smashing a shot past Casillas.

Madrid now needed two goals to progress, and pushed everyone forward and were exposed at the back and could have been punished by Lyon but Lisandro and Cesar Delgado both missed chances when clean through on goal.

Man Utd 4-0 AC Milan

AC had it all to do as they travelled to old trafford and ended up not doing a lot as Wayne Rooney took his goal total to 30 for the season. Rooney scored another header on the 13th minute from a gary neville cross. He got another a minute into the 2nd half after he finished a precision pass from Nani. Park got United’s 3rd before Fletcher scored a header from a great cross from Rafael
