The Premiership Preview

Premiership preview

Today the English Premiership returns for what promises to be an enthralling 2009/10 campaign.

Only Eighty-three days have passed since the curtain fell on the previous campaign, during which time there have been a number of big-name arrivals and departures.

Hull City make the daunting trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea for the season opener.

Champions Manchester United remain the team to beat despite the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo and the tireless Carlos Tevez as they aim for an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League crown.

Birmingham have the unenviable task of being the first side to travel to Old Trafford, and Alex McLeish’s newly-promoted side must improve on their miserable record of no points and no goals from their previous five Premier League visits.

Between now and next May there will be plenty of action, drama and talking points.

This season I will be bringing you more news from the European leagues such Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga due to the number of live matches now available through ESPN.

Also kicking off today is the SPL with the league opener kicking off at 12.45 that see’s last seasons runners-up Celtic take on Aberdeen.
