SPL Round Up: Rangers Go 2 Points Clear

Celtic’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League title challenge suffered what could be a fatal blow when they were held by Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday.

Despite incessant pressure after the break the champions could not find the net to prevent the first goalless draw between the clubs in nine years and take them back top.

The previous day Rangers faced Aberdeen in a must-win showdown at Ibrox – an eventful tie that ended with both teams being reduced to ten men with Rangers eventually winning 2-1.

Celtic host Hearts at Parkhead next week in the last game of the season while Rangers travel to Dundee United two points clear of the champions.

Kilmarnock’s win against Inverness assures them top-flight football for next season, while ICT must defeat bottom placed Falkirk on the last day to remain in the SPL.

Hearts win Against Dundee United secures Europa League football for the Jambos next season.

Big matches next weekend with the winners and the losers being decided on the final day of the season.
