SPL: Rangers 1 Celtic 0

Steven Davis’ winner in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox took Rangers two points clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Northern Ireland international stabbed in a Kenny Miller cross after 37 minutes and then cleared away a goalbound Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink header just before the break.

The champions dominated the second half but Light Blues striker Kris Boyd missed a one-on-one against Hoops goalkeeper Artur Boruc which could have made the win more comfortable.

Biggest surprise of the day was the Celtic boss Gordon Strachan leaving Aiden McGeady on the bench in favour of Shaun Maloney who hasn’t played for the first team since December.

With three games remaining the title is Rangers to throw away.
