Rangers Keen On South African Duo

Rangers manager Walter Smith has confirmed the club’s interest in South African duo Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mphela. Khumalo, 23, is a central defender while Mphela is a striker for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.
The pair both featured in this summer’s World Cup finals and Khumalo scored the first goal for his country in a 2-1 win over France. Tottenham have reportedly invited Khumalo for a trial while Birmingham City are believed to be interested in striker Mphela.
Smith has seen his squad decimated this summer due to financial restrictions but is ready to spend around £2million on the duo. “We are seriously considering both these players,” Smith told the Scottish Sun.
