Rafael Benitez Criticizes Team’s Effort

Rafael Benitez claims his Liverpool players did not show the necessary attitude and character after their Champions League qualification hopes were handed a huge blow with a 1-0 defeat at Premier League strugglers Wigan on Monday.

Latics hitman Hugo Rodallega scored the only goal of the game at the DW Stadium to leave Benitez’s side a point behind fourth-place Tottenham, who have played a game less.

“I’m really disappointed,” Benitez said. “The first half we didn’t do anything and we didn’t show the attitude that is required. It’s difficult to explain.”
