Manchester Utd £62.5m Record Move For Ribery

Reports are circulating that Manchester United are prepared to make a £62.5million bid for the services of Bayern Munich playmaker Franck Ribery.
Right now it’s a lot of ifs and buts. First off the deal is dependant on Cristiano Ronaldo joining Real Madrid. Bayern would also need to agree to the fee, which at £62.5m isn’t likely to be a problem and thirdly Franck has to agree to the move.
The 26-year-old currently earns £7m a year, around £134,000 a week, at the Munich club and would become United’s highest paid player if the deal goes through.
Ribery joined Bayern from Marseille in 2007 for 25m euros plus add-ons, has hinted recently about wanting to leave Bayern in the summer.
In an interview with French sports paper L’Equipe last week he said ‘it would be difficult to stay’ at Bayern if the club failed to qualify for next year’s Champions League.
His contract at the club runs until 2011, but he has repeatedly turned down offers to negotiate a contract extension on improved terms.
Right now the club are second in the Bundlesliga by a point with four games left to play. Only the top two German teams are guaranteed places in Europe’s premier club competition.
A £62.5m offer would comfortably surpass the £47m paid by Real Madrid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
