Irish FA Ask France For A Replay

The Football Association of Ireland has written to its French counterpart asking for the World Cup play-off to be replayed.
Thierry Henry’s handball led to William Gallas’ decisive goal in Paris as France salvaged a 1-1 draw to go through 2-1 on aggregate.
Ireland, however, are refusing to let the issue lie, believing Henry’s blatant disregard for the rules should not be allowed to go unpunished.
There have been growing calls for the contest to be replayed, to help preserve the integrity of the sport, with FAI chief executive John Delaney revealing that the French Football Federation has been contacted in regard to the prospect of re-staging the fixture at the centre of the controversy.
The FAI have also lodged a formal complaint with Fifa over France’s controversial goal.
Tick tock Sepp, video replays on the touchline are needed and as soon as you go they will happen.
