Ferdinand Risks Carling Cup Final Place

Rio Ferdinand has launched a second appeal over his violent conduct charge which could see him miss Manchester United’s Carling Cup final against Aston Villa.
The 31-year-old was charged by the Football Association after he was caught on camera swinging an arm at Hull’s Craig Fagan in an off-the-ball incident during United’s recent 4-0 win at Old Trafford.
The England man has lodged one already-unsuccessful appeal against the subsequent three-match ban, with the FA giving him a further game suspension after deeming his challenge ‘frivolous’.
