UEFA U-Turn On Eduardo Ban

Arsenal striker Eduardo has seen his two-match UEFA Champions League ban overturned by European football’s governing body.

The Croatia international was charged with with ‘deceiving the referee’ and handed a two-game ban after diving to the ground to win a penalty in the second leg of a Champions League qualifier against Celtic.

Television replays clearly showed that Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc had made no contact with the Gunners forward.

Arsenal issued an immediate appeal and UEFA’s Appeals Body have accepted the plea and Eduardo’s suspension has been dropped, leaving him free to feature in their opening Group H clash away to Standard Liege on Wednesday.

djmick says: If the teams had been reversed there’s no way any Celtic player would have had their appeal overturned. This is just another example of the tail wagging the dog.
