Becks is heading to Italy

The big sports news story of the day is that David Beckham has agreed to move to Italian giants AC Milan on loan in January.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: “Beckham has chosen Milan. He’ll stay here in Milan on loan for a few months.”

The 33 year old midfielder plays for LA Galaxy, whose MLS season ends this weekend meaning Golden Balls would be without regular competitive football which England coach Fabio Capello said was a must for consideration when making his selection for the national team.

Beckham only needs two more appearances to become England’s most-capped outfield player, taking him past Bobby Moore, who played 108 times for his country.

His move has been delayed until January because LA Galaxy are set to play exhibition matches in Australia and New Zealand in December and Becks will be a big crowd puller.

Beckham will be eligible to play for Milan both domestically and in the Uefa Cup.
