Bundesliga Final Day: Wolfsburg, Bayern, Stuttgart
Wolfsburg only really need a draw at home to Werder Bremen if they are to win the Bundesliga title on the final day of the 2008-09 season.
Second-placed Bayern Munich, who are two points behind, have to beat Stuttgart and hope that the Wolves lose or – in the case of a draw – that Bayern manage to rack up a win by nine clear goals.
It is unusual that Wolfsburg’s form appears to have improved after manager Felix Magath announced he would leave the club in the summer.
But they easily beat Dortmund and Hannover and are now in the driving seat to triumph in one of the most exciting Bundesliga championships in recent memory.
Stuttgart are unlikely to roll over for Bayern either – a win for Markus Babbel’s men would ensure Champions League football, with Hertha Berlin hot on their heels.
