SHOCKING: Andy Gray Sacked By Sky Sports

Was just about to call it a day when I spotted the news that Sky Sports have sacked Andy Gray. The Sky Sports website quotes Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, as saying: “Andy Gray’s contract has been terminated for unacceptable behaviour.

“After issuing a warning yesterday, we have no hesitation in taking this action after becoming aware of new information today.”

Outrageous.

Is Richard Keys next?

I smell a witch hunt here. In fact it’s a stench.

First we have the leaked tape then Sky adding fuel to the fire themselves with additional footage. Are they trying to save his £1.7m salary? Shouldn’t think so with the prices they charge.

Richard and Andy made Sky footie worth watching at times. I’ve seen me sit down to look at ten minutes of a game and keep watching as the patter has been on the money. Are any of the other commentators going to do that? Not a chance.

And talking of the other commentators – who else is getting fired? The reporter who was on the sideline with Andy when they were checking out the female official? The cameraman who was mentioned in the conversation? Are they all getting red carded?

Only time will tell.

I hope the beeb have got their cheque book out and have their people on the phone trying to get Andy on MOTD, like right now. Strike while the iron is hot.

Also Andy Gray was fired for a combination of things. He got a warning yesterday for his comments regarding Massey, but then the sack today when it came out that he’d made some inappropriate comments to Charlotte Jackson (a fellow Sky Sports presenter) back in December.
