The BBC Are 7 Years Late With The Wire

I really did laugh out loud when I read that the BBC are going to air The Wire here in the UK.

Having already watched the entire five seasons twice round it’s safe to say it’s probably the best TV show I’ve seen.

So what’s taken the BBC so long to come to their senses? Have they had their heads in the sand for the past seven years? They happily air non stop crap yet until now they have swerved The Wire like the plague, as have the other terrestrial channels.

The Wire has already aired in the UK on satellite channel FX, so why are they bothering?

“It’s a wonderful chance for everyone to see what the critics have been raving about for so long,” Sue Deeks, the BBC’s head of series, programme acquisition, said.

And they have a cheek to charge £120 for a license fee.

As Shane Richmond of The Telegraph once said, “There are two kinds of people in the world: those who love The Wire and those who haven’t seen it. Yet.”
