Simon Cowell Leaves American Idol For X Factor USA
American Idol judge Simon Cowell has confirmed he will leave the programme at the end of this season as he takes British show The X Factor to Fox TV.
His American Idol contract comes to an end following the show’s ninth run.
The X Factor talent show is owned by Cowell, who reportedly stands to make more money with it than if he stays on American Idol where he earns $36m.
Cowell said that even though he was offered a lot of money to stay on, he wanted a “new challenge”.
Fox bosses did not speculate of a replacement judge for Cowell on American Idol.
