NBC: A Major Indian Giver

Conan O'Brien

The newest Tonight Show host, after a weak 5 months on air in the late night throne, is being knocked back to the 12:05am time slot to make room for Jay Leno once more. Apparently, the ratings and viewers for the show were just not enough to keep our beloved Conan going.

I’m not the only one who’s surprised and hurt over this.

“He’s done a great job for NBC. He moved his entire staff, he moved his family to LA. And five months later, they repay him like this?” says one source.

I whole heartedly agree. How long have we laughed at O’Brien’s iconic string dance, cat hisses into the camera, or his over the top wave of red hair? And now we just cast him aside like a red headed step-child? Shame on you, America. And how has Conan reacted to the move? “People of Earth,” O’Brien began in his publicly released statement, shifting “Tonight” to 12:05 a.m. will “seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting”.

Whatever the case maybe with NBC’s late night legacy, Conan definitely took a few swings during the prologue of the show. Keep swinging, I say. Jay Leno’s antics on his newest show didn’t get many ratings either so why cut out Conan? Because NBC is a bunch of scared little girls reacting way too feverishly. I’m sure Conan agrees as he did express how disappointed he was that they didn’t give him at least a year to pull through.

Either way, what’s done is done. As long as Conan doesn’t make offers with Fox, things aren’t too bad.
