Joe McElderry Wins X Factor 2009

Joe McElderry

18 year old Joe McElderry beat Olly Murs to win X Factor 2009 and a £1million recording contract.

Today he will now release his version of ‘The Climb’, originally performed by Miley Cyrus, and no doubt be the UK Christmas number one.

Joe was mentored by Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole, making this the second year in a row that Cole has worked with the eventual winner.

However I don’t think Joe will enjoy the same success as previous winners Alexandra and Leona. The tell tale sign will be how quick he releases an album, and even a delayed release isn’t going to do him many favours.

I feel he’s another Leon Jackson, Shane Ward, Steve Brookstein…

  1. Kate & Gin Says:

Its all still a bit of a lottery as to how well folks do after passing through the `Cowell` stardust machine. It will be interesting to see how things develop; but singers always have a great `head start` over other types of acts like myself and Gin.
