Dollhouse Finally Hits The UK!

Tomorrow (Tuesday 19th May at 21.00) on the Sci Fi channel, Dollhouse begins. Despite early bad reviews in America I’ve watched the whole season and think that it is actually some of Joss Whedon’s best work to date.
As a bit of a Joss ‘Geek’ I’ve watched all of his shows; Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and the likes, and absolutely loved them all. The man is a genius, but be warned, until Dollhouse reaches episode 6 you might not agree with me!
Basically Joss Whedon was forced to re-write a LOT of the original episodes as the network complained that they were too complicated, and picked fault in what he’d written, so what we actually end up with is a very dumbed down version of what should have originally happened. The real action however, begins at episode 6 and keeps a steady pace from there on in, showing some of those classic Whedon trademarks and story arc’s that we’ve all grown to know and love.
You’ll of course recognise the main character Echo played by BTVS & Angel star Eliza Dusku and fans of Joss Whedon’s previous shows will also be pleased to see the addition of Amy Acker (Fred in Angel) along with a whole host of other familiar faces including Dichen Lachman who played Katya Kinski in Neighbours. Believe it or not she is awesome in this and one of the strongest character’s.
Critics have commented that Eliza Dusku’s acting skills are not up to much in the show but I strongly disagree and think she does an amazing job of flitting from character to character as she lives life as an ‘active’ inside the walls of the Dollhouse that has become her home. Her ability to display such a wide variety of emotions, actions and body language make her perfect for the role, and I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops in season 2 which has now been confirmed. Yay!
So, be sure to watch the show with an open mind, and you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised along the way, I’m sure!
