UNICEF Ambassador Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez, best known for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Disney’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’, has been appointed as an Ambassador for United Nations Children’s Fund. Selena’s representative said that she, “will be involved in educating, advocating, and fundraising.”
The 17 year-old American actress said, “Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero.”
Selena will tour Ghana to inspect the conditions for survival programs.
In October last year, Selena was named a spokesperson for UNICEF’s 2008 Trick-or-Treat campaign, which encouraged children to raise money to help kids allover the globe. She recorded a charity single named, ‘Send It On’ with Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, which was released in August to benefit environmental associations.
