Cate Blanchett Suffers Head Injury

Australian actress Cate Blanchett suffered a bleeding head wound during a performance on Wednesday (September 2). The 40 year old Oscar-winner was onstage for ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ at The Sydney Theatre Company when she was accidentally struck by a prop.

An audience member told the Australian Associated Press that Cate, “had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck”.

The performance was canceled and everyone had to evacuate the Sydney Theatre Company.

The theatre spokesman said, “There was a minor incident on stage that unfortunately did injure Cate”.

He was confident that she was not seriously hurt and would be back on stage for the next scheduled performance.

Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton are currently artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.
