The Worlds Craziest Soccer Match

Worlds Craziest Soccer Match

One of the few unwritten rules of the world’s craziest soccer match is that players are not allowed to murder members of the opposite team.

Other than that it’s pretty much open season in this annual two day event that dates back 700 years.

The annual Royal Ashbourne Shrovetide Football Match sees ‘Up’ards – those born north of the Henmore Brook – battle it out against the Down’ards, born on the south side.

Aim of the game – get the ball into the opposing team’s goal, 5km (three miles) apart. Absolute madness!!!
