Penis Art From The Himalayan Kingdom Of Bhutan

In the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan visitors may be a little surprised to see colourful paintings of penises on the white-washed walls of homes, shops and cafes.

Legend has it that Drupka Kinley, a great master of Mahamudra in the Buddhist tradition, would hit errant demons over the head with his penis to subdue them and turn them into protective deities.

Locals believe these penis paintings will protect them and ward off evil spirits.
