Keeper Of The Irn-Bru Secret Steps Down

Robin Barr’s 31-year tenure as chairman ended at the firm’s annual meeting in Glasgow, placing Irn-Bru in the hands of an outsider for the first time in its 134-year history.

Barr, 71, is one of only two people who know the secret recipe for Irn-Bru, the fizzy orange concoction which is dubbed ‘Scotland’s other national drink.’

He will continue as a non-executive director and come in to mix Irn-Bru. He will pass on the formula to his daughter Julie, the company secretary.

Right, so only two people know the ingredients, what if the inevitable happened…… No more Irn Bru?

There has got to be a Plan B in place surely? When we were young my Gran won something (can’t remember what) for sending in her “Other National Drink” recipe to a newspaper, which was Irn Bru and Carnation Milk, yuck, but as a kid this was fantastic, try it!
