In Pictures: Buddhist Temple Built Using 1.5m Beer Bottles

The Beer Bottle Temple
Buddhist monks at the Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew complex in the north-east of Thailand have built a temple using BEER BOTTLES.
Having already built the a temple the monks have went on to construct more than 20 other building using empties and don’t sound like they intend to stop any time soon.
‘The more bottles we get, the more buildings we make,’ says Abbot San Kataboonyo.
Drinking is a sin in Buddhism so the monks depend on the locals donating the empties and they take the bottle tops too.
The caps are used to create decorative mosaics to display inside the bottle buildings.

Built with 1.5million recycled bottles

Visitors’ toilets are also built in this unique way
