Squeeze In – Room For One More? (16 Photos)

Room For One More Gallery

This famous image of an overloaded truck crossing the Tenere, a desert region in south central Sahara, shows migrant workers returning home from Libya.

Instead of going back with money they instead buy goods such as
bicycles, sewing machines, TV’s, etc to resell in their home countries – usually Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Burkina-Faso.

The 2500Km trip starts at the city of Toummo on the Libyan / Niger border and lasts 20 days, only stopping when it’s dark for fear of being hijacked and robbed.

Paying passengers face temperatures of 113 during the day and the 28.4 at night. And yes I did say they pay for this pleasure.

Here’s fifteen more photos of overcrowded trains, cars, motorbikes and a rather busy looking phone box and river.

Obviously, I will credit the artist
