Supermarkets Don’t Like Manics Album Art

Journal For Plague Lovers

It’s changed days in the world of rock’n'roll when a supermarket has a say in what a rock bands album art looks like.

The new Manic Street Preachers album is being shipped in a plain slipcase because its artwork has been deemed “inappropriate” by the UK’s major supermarkets.

Concerns have been raised that the cover for Journal For Plague Lovers, a portrait by artist Jenny Saville, looks like it is splattered with blood.

However traditional music retails will carry the album in it’s intended form.

Singer James Dean Bradfield called the situation “utterly bizarre”.

“We just thought it was a beautiful painting. We were all in total agreement,” he told BBC 6 Music.
