Caught Live: Coldplay Cruzan Amphitheatre Palm Beach

coldplay live in florida

This was Coldplay’s second South Florida stop in six months, and “the first night of the last leg of the ‘Viva la Vida’ tour,” as Martin described the itinerary.

The British rock band are still on the road and last Friday nights concert was at the Cruzan Amphitheatre, West Palm Beach, Florida.

All the hits were on the set list as was much of the Viva La Vida album. Even Chris Martins actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow showed up and watched from the crowd.

One of the bands biggest hits, “Clocks” was the song of the night and rose above the rest with its shifting triads, thrumming bass lines and Martin’s plangent melody stretched across the chords and the 16,000 strong crowd soaked in every chord and word like a sponge.

The band tossed in an oldie, the Monkees’ I’m a Believer, and ventured into the crowd for this acoustic sing-a-long.

With a free CD of the concert being given away at the end of the gig the audience had a little something extra to smile about, as if the live show wasn’t enough on it’s own.
