BGT Star Faryl Smith Takes On America

Faryl Smith isn’t the usual kind of singer I would normally talk about here but this kid is something special.

The 13-year-old mezzo-soprano was once described by Simon Cowell as ‘by far the most talented youngster I’ve
ever heard’. And it’s easy to see why he made such a bold statement when you hear her sing.

After coming fourth in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent contest the teenager from Kettering, England went on to turn down a million pound recording contract with Cowell’s record label after her mother took one look at the two inch thick contract and said ‘no way’.

Her mother Linda is fearful of her daughters exposure in the murky waters of the showbiz world.

After a few stressful days of negotiating by her parents, Faryl signed a £2.3million record deal with Universal Music and is now on a whirlwind tour of North America to promote her debut album ‘Faryl’.

Five star luxury hotels, exclusive eateries, travelling by limousine, appearances on talk shows alongside people like Michael Douglas are all in a days work for Faryl but she seems to take it all in her stride, unfazed and undaunted by any of it. On the other hand it leaves her mother worried sick.

She is also set to become the youngest-ever performer to sing at the Classical Brit Awards, being held this year at the Royal Albert Hall on May 14, where she’ll perform her latest single, River Of Light, which was specially written for her and set to the music of The Blue Danube.

Take a look at the video and you’ll soon see what all the fuss is about.

I saw Faryl Smith on the Ellen show and fell in love. When I was exploring I found A behind the scenes on http://bit.ly/FarylYH where she is so humble and adorable! I hope she makes it.
