At The Movies: MICMACS

MICMACS

Starring: Dany Boon, Dominique Pinon, Yolande Moreau

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Plot: Bazil (Boon) lives a miserable life following the tragic death of his father (a bomb disposal engineer in the Middle East) and things only get worse when a freak accident leaves a stray bullet lodged in his brain.

Homeless and penniless, Bazil is taken in by a family of kooky misfits all with special and quirky skills of their own. His life takes a wicked turn when he discovers the two big bosses responsible for the land mine that killed his father and the bullet forever stuck in his brain.

With the help of his new family members, Bazil creates a master plan to play the big bosses off against each other to get revenge.

MICMACS is the perfect selection of all things weird and wonderful. Jeunet has a unique ability to transport viewers back to their scheming childhoods and taunt their imaginations with Roald Dahl-esque characters and eccentric storylines.

Verdict: The perfect Sunday afternoon movie that’s full of oddball characters and bric-a-brac, that will captivate your imagination and leave your head in the clouds all the way home.

Date Movie: Definitely not.
