At The Movies: It’s Complicated

Starring: Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski, Lake Bell
Director: Nancy Meyers
Plot: A divorcee has an affair with her ex-husband in this Golden Globe-nominated comedy. Jane (Streep) is a successful single woman who winds up in bed with her philandering ex Jake (Baldwin), who is now with the younger Agness (Bell). She continues the affair against her better instincts, but also gets to know kind architect Adam (Martin). What’s a woman to do?
It’s Complicated is a funny, frank film about sexual relationships between middle-aged people. Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep are one hell of a double act – he’s all gruff sexual confidence and charm, while she’s all flustered midlife-crisis excitement. If you love Alec in the TV show 30 Rock, this will bring a smile to your face.
Verdict: A laugh out loud comedy for women of all ages, with a few gags for the guys, too.
Date Movie: Nah, it’s a rom-com!
Release Date: 8 January 2010 (UK)
