Photo Special: Prisoner Abuse In Iraq And Afghanistan

Here’s just a handful of the 2,000 photographs of prisoner abuse in Iraq and Afghanistan by the US military that Barack Obama doesn’t want you to see.

The US president announced plans for a legal battle to stop them ever being seen but it looks like he’s a little too late after they were published online by several national newspapers.

They were originally obtained by the Australian channel SBS in 2006 in the wake of the Abu Ghraib scandal.

Instead of trying to hide these horrendous images would Mr Obama not have been better apologise and commit to taking action against the offending soldiers?
