Today Vietnam celebrates the country’s national day. September 2nd marks the end of Japanese occupation in 1945, despite the return of the French as colonists for another decade.

The day also coincides with the official date of the death of Ho Chi Minh – the Communist Party hero of Vietnam’s independence.

This gallery is a snapshot of everyday life in Vietnam from the city to the countryside and captures people going about their daily life.
