In Pictures: UAE Hit By Severe Floods

Large parts of Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi were left under water this week after heavy rains lashed the Emirates.

Thousands were left stranded as roads turned to rivers on Monday and Tuesday after just 30mm of rain.

In Dubai a woman was killed and 13 others injured when the entrance to a pavilion in Global Village amusement park collapsed on them during the down pour.

However, most people and businesses in the desert region do not consider the threat of rain and flooding enough of a risk to justify adding it to their insurance policies, resulting in millions of dollars worth of damage property that’s uninsured.
