Horror Crash By Russian Officials Daughter Caught On CCTV
The video below showing a car veer off the road and hit two women, killing one and seriously injuring the other, has picked up a fair bit of media attention today, due to the fact the 28 year old driver hasn’t been charged despite the CCTV footage of the accident.
It turns out Russian police have been hesitant to take action because the driver is the daughter of a powerful official and were probably hoping they could sweep the incident under the carpet.
The footage shows a white Toyota Corolla suddenly veering off the road and slamming into two women walking along the pavement arm in arm in the Siberian city of Irkutsk.
The car throws the two women against the wall before rebounding itself. The driver, Ms Shavenkova, is then seen getting out, inspecting her own car for damage, and making a call on her mobile phone (not for an ambulance).
At no time does she even glance in the direction of the people she has just run over.
If charged and convicted, Shavenkova faces up to five years in prison.
